Household Harmony for Dogs that Fight

When your dogs can't live together peacefully, the whole household feels it.

Living with multiple dogs shouldn't mean constantly managing conflict.

Maybe your dogs fight over resources, redirect onto each other, struggle to share space, or have reached a point where you can't comfortably have them loose together. Maybe your home has become a rotation of crates, gates, separate rooms, and carefully choreographed routines.

You're not just dealing with a dog training problem. You're dealing with a household that no longer functions the way it should.

Household Harmony is a comprehensive behavior and household management program designed to help multi-dog homes move toward safer, more peaceful coexistence.

“Our dogs are friends again.”

-- Lara B, Oakham MA

We work on more than the fights.

Inter-dog conflict rarely exists in isolation. The relationship between your dogs, their individual behavioral patterns, household routines, resource access, communication, and environmental pressures can all contribute to tension.

Our approach looks at the entire picture.

We work to:

  • Identify the triggers, patterns, and circumstances contributing to conflict.

  • Address individual behavioral needs rather than treating every dog as part of the same problem.

  • Develop better communication, impulse control, and coping skills.

  • Establish household routines and management systems that reduce unnecessary conflict.

  • Build more appropriate interactions and improve the dogs' ability to share space.

  • Give owners the tools to recognize tension, make informed decisions, and manage the household confidently.

The goal isn't simply to stop a fight from happening. It's to change the conditions that keep putting your dogs in conflict.

A hybrid approach: Board & Train + Household Coaching

Changing the household dynamic takes more than sending one dog away for obedience training. It requires working with the dogs individually, understanding their interactions, and helping the people responsible for them create a sustainable environment.

1. Individualized Board & Train

Each dog's needs are evaluated independently. Depending on the household, one or more dogs may participate in board and train to address their individual behavioral needs, develop skills, and establish a stronger foundation before working toward improved coexistence.

2. Household Coaching

We work with you to overhaul how your home functions. That means practical management strategies, routines, resource distribution, transitions, boundaries, and communication. You'll learn how to recognize the dynamics between your dogs and make decisions that support a safer environment.

3. Structured Reintegration

When appropriate, we develop a deliberate plan for bringing the dogs back together. Interactions are introduced thoughtfully, with attention to each dog's responses, safety, and ability to recover from stress.

4. Long-Term Household Support

The goal is a household you can actually maintain. You'll leave with a clearer understanding of your dogs, a practical management plan, and the skills to navigate everyday life without constantly improvising.

Curiosity Unleashed!

We don't guarantee friendship, but respectful coexistence is a realistic goal for many households when owners are willing to make meaningful changes to how they live with and manage their dogs. Sometimes success looks like dogs choosing to share space comfortably. It doesn't necessarily mean they'll become best friends. Your willingness to follow through with the recommended changes is an important part of the process.

Will my dogs definitely become friends?

1

We don't recommend leaving dogs loose and unsupervised together, even when they have a good relationship. Dogs are still dogs, and even well-adjusted companions can get into trouble when nobody is watching. From an unexpected scuffle to chewing an electrical cord or getting into something dangerous, supervision and appropriate management are part of responsible dog ownership.

Can I leave my dogs together unsupervised?

Often, the hardest part of changing a multi-dog household is changing human habits. How you greet your dogs, respond to demanding behavior, distribute attention, manage resources, and structure everyday interactions can all influence the relationships between your dogs. Sometimes, even the way you interact with your dogs can become a resource worth competing over. We'll help you identify the patterns contributing to conflict and build household routines that support more peaceful coexistence.

What do you mean by changing our lifestyle?

How much does Household Harmony cost?

4

Household Harmony is a highly individualized program, and no two households have the same needs. The number of dogs involved, history of conflict, behavioral concerns, board-and-train requirements, and level of household coaching all influence the scope of work. Pricing is determined after a comprehensive consultation so we can recommend an appropriate plan for your household.
