Safety Comes First
Every transport is planned with the animal's safety and welfare as the top priority.
All animals travel in a climate-controlled vehicle and are secured in appropriately sized Ruff Land kennels during transportation.
But safety isn't just about containment.
Special attention is paid not only to completing a transport quickly or efficiently, but to supporting the animal's physical and emotional well-being throughout the journey.
That means:
Secure, appropriately sized kennel accommodations
Climate-controlled transportation
Regular bathroom breaks as appropriate
Walks and opportunities to decompress when appropriate and safe
Food and water according to the owner's instructions and the animal's needs

Additional Charges
While every effort is made to anticipate the needs of each transport, circumstances may arise that require additional services, supplies, time, or replacement equipment.
Additional charges may be billed separately for circumstances including:
Excessive damage or wear to transportation equipment or kennels beyond normal use
Significant accidents or repeated soiling requiring extensive cleaning
Lack of house training resulting in unusually frequent or extensive cleanup
Destruction of equipment or property
Additional care, handling, lodging, or transportation resulting from circumstances that were not disclosed during booking
Undisclosed behavior or handling problems that materially change the safety requirements or logistics of the transport
Veterinary care or other emergency expenses incurred on behalf of the animal

If your dog has bitten someone, cannot be safely handled by strangers, destroys crates, has severe separation anxiety, cannot be around other dogs, is not house trained, escapes from containment, panics in vehicles, or has any other behavior that could affect transportation, we need to know before the trip.
There is no judgment.
Knowing about a problem ahead of time allows us to plan for it safely. Discovering it after we're already several hundred miles from home is when things become much harder.
Honesty helps us keep your dog safe.
Veterinary Care During Transport
Your animal's health and safety come first.
If an animal becomes ill, injured, or otherwise requires veterinary attention during transportation, we will seek appropriate veterinary care and keep you informed every step of the way.
Depending on the circumstances, this may include:
Contacting you as soon as a concern is identified
Transporting the animal to an appropriate veterinary facility
Remaining with the animal while they are evaluated
Communicating relevant information to the veterinary team
Providing you with updates throughout the process
Following your instructions regarding treatment whenever reasonably possible
Continuing transportation only when it is safe and appropriate to do so
Owners are responsible for veterinary expenses and other costs incurred on behalf of their animal, except to the extent that an expense is directly attributable to negligence, malpractice, or other fault on the part of Brighter Days Dog Training.
If your dog needs a veterinarian, we don't simply leave them at a clinic and continue down the highway.
We stay involved, communicate with you, and make sure you know what is happening.
FAQs
My dog is stressed. What if they won't eat?

That's not unusual.
Travel can be stressful, and some animals temporarily eat less—or refuse food altogether—while traveling.
Food will be offered according to your instructions and the animal's normal routine, but eating will not be forced.
On longer trips, appropriate food toppers or other familiar additions may be offered when appropriate to encourage appetite, provided they are safe for the individual animal and consistent with the owner's instructions.
During transport, attention is paid to the animal's overall behavior, hydration, elimination, energy level, and stress rather than treating one skipped meal as an emergency.
If there are concerns about prolonged refusal to eat or other changes in condition, you'll be contacted.
Can you give my dog their medications?

Yes.
Medication administration can be incorporated into the transportation plan when appropriate. Owners should provide clear written instructions regarding medication, dosage, timing, and any special administration requirements.
For animals with significant medical needs, additional planning may be required.
My dog is reactive/aggressive. Are you actually comfortable transporting them?

This is one of the reasons this service exists.
Brighter Days specializes in difficult dogs and has experience working with dogs that many conventional pet transporters are not equipped to handle.
That doesn't mean every dog or every situation is automatically accepted. Safety requirements are evaluated individually before a transport is scheduled.
What happens during an overnight trip?

For trips that require an overnight stay, appropriate pet-friendly lodging is arranged based on the animal's needs and the logistics of the route.
Animals remain securely contained when appropriate and are cared for throughout the overnight stop.
And no, your dog will not be sleeping in my bed.
They will, however, have a safe, secure, climate-appropriate place to sleep and appropriate opportunities to go outside.
