FAQs

What is the Home School Program?

1

Think of it as having a professional dog trainer and dog nanny rolled into one. Instead of sending your dog away, we come to your home and work with your dog independently while you're at work or handling the rest of life's responsibilities.

This allows your dog to learn and practice skills in the environment where they actually live, creating routines and habits that naturally fit into your household.

Why choose Home School over a board and train?

2

Home School is perfect for owners who want the benefits of intensive professional training but don't want to send their dog away for an extended stay. Your dog receives one-on-one attention and structured training while remaining part of your normal household routine.

This program is especially popular with busy professionals, families with demanding schedules, young puppies, and owners who simply prefer that their dog sleep in their own bed at the end of the day.

It also gives us the opportunity to address household-specific issues like door manners, crate routines, nuisance barking, jumping on guests, and other behaviors that directly impact daily life.

Do I still have to be involved?

3

Yes. While we handle much of the day-to-day training, long-term success still depends on consistency from the family. Our job is to create the habits and routines; your job is to maintain them.

You don't need to become a professional dog trainer, but you will need to uphold the same expectations your dog has learned. We provide guidance on how to continue the training so the results become part of your everyday life.

What does a typical Home School visit look like?

4

Every dog's schedule is different, but visits typically include structured training sessions, exercise, enrichment activities, potty breaks, socialization opportunities when appropriate, and plenty of time practicing calm, appropriate behavior in the home.

Unlike a traditional dog walker or pet sitter, we aren't simply keeping your dog busy until you get home. Every interaction is an opportunity to build better habits, reinforce good decisions, and create the kind of dog that is a pleasure to live with.
