Board and Train Options

Basic Obedience

Designed for dogs 6 months and older who are already house trained and crate trained but need help becoming well-mannered companions. This program builds a strong foundation of everyday obedience, including sit, down, stay, place, come, and heel, while also addressing the little habits that make living with a dog frustrating. We focus on polite greetings at the door, eliminating nuisance barking, preventing counter surfing and destructive chewing, and creating a dog that can confidently fit into your daily life.

3-5 weeks

Puppy Jumpstart

The first few months of a puppy's life shape the adult dog they become. Our Puppy Jumpstart program is designed for puppies 2–6 months old and focuses on building the foundations every great dog needs. We work on house training, crate training, socialization, environmental confidence, and desensitization to everyday sights, sounds, and handling. While young puppies are not expected to leave fully house trained, they will go home with a solid routine and the skills needed for continued success.

4-6 weeks
8-12 weeks

Behavior Modification

Our premier rehabilitation program is designed for dogs struggling with aggression, reactivity, fear, or severe behavioral challenges. This is not a management program where dogs simply learn to cope while triggers are kept at a distance. We focus on creating lasting emotional and behavioral change through thoughtful, individualized training plans that address the root of the problem. The goal is true rehabilitation—building confidence, stability, and practical skills that owners can maintain long after the program ends.

5-7 weeks

Adventure Dog

For owners who want more than basic obedience, Adventure Dog creates the kind of canine partner that can go anywhere. This program develops reliable off-leash recall, bombproof socialization, and advanced obedience under real-world distractions. Whether your goal is hiking trails, bustling downtown streets, brewery patios, or family vacations, we'll help build a dog that's ready to take on the world—with confidence, reliability, and style.

FAQs

How are your board and trains different from other trainers?

1

Most board and trains focus on teaching obedience. We focus on creating dogs that can successfully live in the human world.

Your dog lives as part of our daily routine, not in a kennel building waiting for the next training session. They practice their skills in real homes, neighborhoods, stores, parks, and other public settings where life actually happens. We also intentionally keep a small number of dogs in training at one time, allowing for individualized programs rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

For most dogs, a program is not considered complete simply because they know a list of commands. Our goal is for dogs to demonstrate the level of reliability and stability necessary to pass all levels of the AKC Canine Good Citizen title track (CGC, CGCA, and CGCU). Behaviors are extensively proofed around real-world distractions, and many of our graduates work comfortably in public environments that would challenge the average pet dog.

As a result, our training standards often resemble those used for service dogs in training. However, this is not a service dog program, and no representation is made that a dog will become or qualify as a service dog. We simply believe that pet dogs deserve the same level of preparation and reliability that allows them to confidently accompany their families wherever life takes them.

Most importantly, every board and train includes owner education and support because a trained dog is only half of the equation. Our goal is to create lasting success, not just an impressive demonstration on pickup day.

Can I visit my dog?

2

Yes! We want you to stay involved in your dog's journey, and scheduled visits are welcome. However, please remember that our board and train program is run out of a private residence, not a commercial kennel, so we cannot accommodate unannounced drop-ins or surprise visits.

Whenever possible, visits are designed to be productive coaching sessions rather than simply spending time with your dog. This allows you to start learning the handling skills and training techniques that will be essential once your dog returns home.

Depending on your dog's individual program and stage of training, we may not demonstrate every behavior they have learned. New skills—especially in behavior modification cases—can be fragile, and our priority is protecting the training process rather than showing off a finished product before it is ready. We will always do what is in your dog's best interest to ensure long-term success.

How do you make sure the training sticks when the dog comes home?

3

The dog is only half of the equation. Lasting results come from teaching the humans, too.

Every board and train includes a comprehensive transfer process where you'll learn how to handle your dog, maintain the training, and work through real-life situations where things may get challenging. We don't hand you a dog with a list of commands and wish you luck. We coach you through the process so you understand not only what to do, but why you're doing it.

Training is a lifestyle, not an event. Our goal is to give you the skills and support needed to keep your dog's progress moving forward.

Why is board and train better than private lessons?

4

Neither option is inherently better—they simply serve different needs.

Private lessons are a great fit for owners who have the time, experience, and consistency to do most of the training themselves. Board and train is ideal for busy families, owners dealing with significant behavior issues, or dogs that need an intensive reset and a strong foundation before transitioning back home.

A board and train allows for multiple structured training sessions every day, consistent management, and the opportunity to work through challenges as they happen. It accelerates the learning process and often gives owners a fresh start with clear expectations and practical skills.

The best program is the one that fits your goals, your lifestyle, and your dog's individual needs.
